I love Siena and among the nicest things I did there is a visit to the upper part of the duomo: “la porta del cielo”, the gate to heaven.
The Cathedral truly deserves a visit too, but that passageway above the vaults of the church really offers a breathtaking view.
I also love the hidden places like the monumental medieval fountains that were so important for a city always poor in water. The green areas located within the walls going back to the past in search of a old traces: the paths under the arches, the quiet squares of the districts, the further corners with the laundry hanging in the sun.
I love having the best coffee at Fiorella’s, a small place without seating near the campo square or a great “gelato” at Kopakabana or Groom and leave the town with some excellent Ricciarelli biscuits or a piace of delicious Panforte, bought in one of the many baker’s in the city.
